Running internal hackathons is a fantastic way to foster innovation, build team spirit, and drive valuable projects forward. But it can be difficult to measure metrics like innovation to show the value hackathons provide.
With the Post-hackathon Survey feature on Devpost for Teams, we're making it simpler than ever to gather insights and demonstrate the significant value of your internal hackathons. This feature is especially helpful for organizers who want to report on hackathon outcomes, save valuable time doing so, and prove the worth of their hard work.
What is the Post-hackathon Survey feature?
The Post-hackathon Survey is a built-in customizable survey that allows you to collect feedback from hackathon participants. You can use our default questions or create your own, tailored to your specific hackathon goals.
This feature makes it easier to gather feedback and outcome data within Devpost for Teams. For example, organizers can track things like:
How many participants learned a new skill or experimented with an unfamiliar technology
How many teams tackled an important business problem
How many projects were production-ready
This data is essential for organizers to showcase the value of continuing to run internal hackathons and reinforce the positive impact they deliver to the organization.

Get deeper insights from your hackathons
We designed this feature with you, the organizer, in mind. Here’s why it’s a game-changer:
Outcome reporting made easy: The Post-hackathon Survey simplifies the process of collecting data and reporting on hackathon outcomes (beyond metrics like number of participants and submitted projects). This helps you demonstrate the impact and ROI of your events.
Actionable insights: Get direct feedback from participants to identify areas for improvement and understand what worked well. This also helps you measure and highlight the value your hackathons provide to your workplace.
Direct feedback collection: Participants provide feedback directly within Devpost for Teams—which keeps all of your hackathon data in one place and ensures a smooth and seamless experience for participants.
No more lost feedback: We understand how busy organizers can be. This feature ensures that feedback doesn't slip through the cracks due to workload or collection challenges.
How does the Post-hackathon Survey work?
Using the Post-hackathon Survey is straightforward:
Accessing surveys: Find your survey and its results in the ‘Metrics and Survey Page’ (formerly the Metrics page) at the top of your hackathon page.
Surveys enabled by default: For every new hackathon, the survey is automatically enabled. However, if you prefer, you have the option to disable it.
Customize your questions: Easily tailor the survey to your needs. Create your own questions or use the default questions we’ve drafted to work for most hackathons.
Scheduled delivery: By default, surveys will be sent immediately after the winners are announced, but you also have the option to schedule them for a specific date and time.
Shareable links: You can copy a direct link to the survey and share it via Slack or any other internal platform.
Easy data access: View and download survey responses in a CSV format for easy analysis.
Stay updated: Organizers will receive email notifications once a certain number of responses have been received, ensuring you're always in the loop—without flooding your inbox.
